SWTOR similies and idioms
« on: 12/25/13, 04:25:14 PM »
So, inspired by Kiive's "Let's make sure we aren't chasing a red-flutterplume" comment that would, be the equivalent of "wild goose chase", I was wondering if others would like to contribute to building up a collection of SWTOR idioms and similies...

sneaky as a sand-bat?
ugly as a womp-rat?

I'll even sticky the thread so we can easily find it, even in the middle of an rp!

Like a gizka in a nexu nest.

Meaning: Expressing helplessness surrounded by enemies; sort of akin to 'like a mouse in a lion's den'.

My drawing was not of a hat.
It was of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.

Please make sure you explain your idioms! They might not seem as obvious to everyone else!

I just used one in the Blackfox story thread, where my musician declares she's going to "rock this place harder than Makeb." Anyone who's played through Makeb in-game, or knows roughly the deal with it, will get it. :)
Saura Colton - Former Republic slicer/spy
Jace Colton - Captain of the Second Star (retired)
Drexa Nahir - Akar Enclave Master (deceased)

Pulled that one out of my butt, thought it sounded cliché, glad to see someone liked it, lol.

"Lightning before Thunder."

Imperial military maxim regarding the deployment of Sith before the Soldiers.
Used this one a few times on Ralakan, often sarcastically and directed aggressively to Sith. Another way of saying "You first", "Go for it" or "Your move."

Characters:

-Hawking Shatari, Wandering Warrior
-Aspasia Maguire, Smack Talker

"beskar battleship."

Equivalent Meaning: Rice rocket. Sounds and looks like a good idea or it'll tear up a space battle but effectively it's an overpriced waste of engineering (even for Mandos, making a battleship completely out of beskar is a dumb idea. >.>)
Heads up! Most of my roleplay is done over Discord!

Hit me up there if you're keen!

"Red Herring" was what I was going for, actually. xD

*puts away the necronomicon*

"Blaster Fodder" - Cannon Fodder
'Universal Cutting Tool' - Lightsaber
Not firing on all thrusters - euphemism for insanity.

"A few Darths short of a council."
"A few Killiks short of a Hive."
"A few Balmorrans short of a rebellion."

-Not all there, slightly less than sane.

"Flat-out like a Dewback drinking."
-Very busy.

"A Jedi in the grave is worth two on the council."
-Shows an appreciation for what the Jedi have done for the Empire.

"It's all Shyriiwook to me."
-I do not understand the subject matter.

"We're all in the same Escape Pod."
-We are stuck in the same conundrum together.

"Don't look a gift blaster up the barrel."
-When someone gives you a gift, don't be ungrateful.

"Mandalorian Table-manners."
-A marked lack of etiquette.

"Zeltron Kiss."
-A French Kiss.

"Flying without a Hyperdrive."
-Goind nowhere.

"Let the Gizka out of the crate."
-To let a secret slip.

"Charge up her boarding ramp."
-An innuendo, not an idiom.

"Unjamming a blaster."
-Also an innuendo.

"Whatever activates your lightsaber."
-Whatever takes your fancy.
