OPERATION: NORTHERN WIND

The 1st Marine Division is expected to take part in the major fighting of OPERATION: NORTHERN WIND, and is scheduled to hold the furthermost right flank of the mainland advance, and to take on the Republic's formidable Beckett line. Intelligence suggests that the Beckett Line backs on right to the Birazi Sea, making a conventional flanking operation impossible. The First Marines are to hit and destroy the right flank of the Beckett Line, making a breakthrough possible for Imperial Forces.

Once the Beckett Line has been breached, Imperial Forces are to facilitate and execute a breakout operation, making a strategic blitzkrieg maneuver to the south, across the Candaran Planes, supported by Imperial Naval Assets.

The 1st Marines are then to complete their final objective, the siege and capture of the regional capital of Polarion, and the destruction of the Republic garrison within.


EXPECTED OPERATION TIMEFRAME: 3 to 6 Standard Months
EXPECTED OPERATIONAL CASUALTIES: 500,000 to 3,500,000
STRATEGIC ESTIMATION OF REPUBLIC DEFENCE: REPUBLIC 23rd, 7th, 214th and 367th ARMIES. REPORTED HALF STRENGTH, RECOVERING. EASILY DESTROYED.

This is the Reformation's projected Balmorra military campaign, set into 3 distinct phases:

PHASE 1: The Beckett Line

Mountain warfare during Balmorra's brutal winter. Expect mud, rain and warfare against deeply entrenched Republic positions, high in the mountains.

PHASE 2: The Candaran Planes

Open warfare in the steppes and dusty planes of Balmorra during the spring. Expect tanks, aircraft, trench warfare and the like, similar to the North Africa campaign during WW2!

PHASE 3: The Siege of Polarion

Siege and the eventual assault of the region's capital city during the blistering heat and dust of the summer. Expect urban warfare and heavy fighting!

OPEN COMBAT!

The Imperial presence has been made known, and the Imperials are now fighting through an inhospitable mountain range of heavily fortified ridges and defensive positions known as the Beckett Line. The understrength, underequipped and entirely overwhelmed Republic troops have fallen back entirely to this line, and are desperately fighting bunker by bunker, hole by hole, to slow the Imperial advance. Until posted otherwise, this will be where the campaign is currently taking place.
