Worldbuilding Collab
« on: 07/24/20, 04:42:50 PM »
I don't suppose anyone is willing to help me with a little worldbuilding I'm working on? I have an idea for an interconnected backstory for some of my strongholds, something I may work into RP one day. The problem is that I can always start an idea but I usually get stuck somewhere in the middle. I'm stuck again.

In cases like this, I find that gathering questions and input from others about the lore I am working on helps me overcome my creative block. Would any of you mind helping me out like this? If you want to, please look over some of what I have come up with below and leave questions or comments. Repsonding to other perspectives will help me greatly.

If there is interest, I can also try adding in screenshots of the decorated areas although that's a work in progress too.

Thanks

Gen Terras Station (Nar Shaddaa Stronghold)
Gen Terras is a space station located in neutral territory just outside Hutt Space that runs relief operations to worlds and people affected by the Zakuulan occupation. Though it is funded, staffed, and supports a variety of means and people, it is ultimately a humanitarian effort led by Davenrue Bon.

Key Features:
  • Formerly owned by Sebboja the Hutt
  • Welcomes all factions as long as they are not hostile while on the station
  • Hosts recruiters for smaller relief operations and miscellaneous jobs as long as it doesn't disrupt the relief work and the station gets its cut for operational fees.
  • Has it's own cantina and resident band: the Suns-set Star Jammers
  • Has dedicated areas: docks/meeting area, logistics, workshop, laboratory, cafeteria
  • Hidden secrets left behind by the previous owner
  • C9 works here

Sunrise Point Resort (Rishi Stronghold)
Sunrise Point is an upscale resort located on the planet Virai. It prides itself on its exclusivity but is currently in the midst of an image crisis. An uninvited, and unwelcome, refugee camp has been established nearby and it is ruining the views from some parts of the resort. However, the owner of the resort is not only obliged to tolerate this presence, they are even forced to occasionally appear to be supporting this colony by their discreet Patron, Sebboja the Hutt.

Key Features:
  • Seaside resort with reception hall and event venue.
  • Secure Vault
  • Sunny beach complete with concert stage and observatory
  • The Water Shrine attraction
  • Open Hands Market and Open Palms Cantina which allows guests to mingle and barter with some of the better off
  • refugees and "random traders" that pass through.
  • Security Checkpoint between the resort and the refugee camp
  • Arena for the entertainment of the guests and for finding refugees that may be more "useful"
  • Complimentary breakfast and all you can stand snobbery

The Dump Refugee Camp (Rishi Stronghold)
The dump is exactly what it sounds like, a dumping ground for those displaced by Zakuul's occupation. "residents" come from all over the galaxy and they all have two things in common. Zakuul robbed them of their lives and Sebboja robs them of everything else. All of the residents of the camp are beholden to the Hutt and often serve as a legitimizing front for some of his shadier operations.

Key Features:
  • Tent city
  • A single medical clinic to try to take care of the diverse needs to the refugees
  • Sebboja's hidden base, Mandalorian Mercenary camp, and communications center
  • Sebboja's restolen, stolen Zakuulan Carrier complete with restolen, stolen goods

Elix Darykon's Office (Coruscant Stronghold)
Elix Darykon is a republic business man who also has side dealings with Sebboja.

Key Features:
  • Executive offices
  • Spacious "breakroom" with room for catered meals
  • Various hidden backrooms for Elix's "side businesses"
  • Work with Sebboja
  • Don't get caught
  • ???
  • Profit!

Imperial Equivalent of Elix Darykon's Office (Dromund Kaas Stronghold)
Some kind of imperial equivalent areas

Seems like a fun list. Did you have particular worldbuilding questions, or just looking for general feedback or possible collaborative storyline links?

Wraiths are still pretty active in Hutt Space, and we are still slowwalking a few Hutt/Mando/Dar'Manda rivalries coming out of the fall of the Eternal Empire, if any of that would be useful.  (In particular the Hutt ship loaned to the Grey Coalition during the resistance, which my Mando Clan stole to give them a finger and prevent more slaving.) Could be fun to figure out a few of my Hutt NPC's in coordination with your crime empire.  We've also been establishing some of our own Freeports similar to Mek'sha in the Mid-Rim, which may attract the attention of some Hutts and other nonaligned factions.

Our Dar'Manda antagonists have been running a slaving ring and looking for vulnerable Zakuulan and other refugee groups... could be possible the Wraiths track a raid to the Dump too, although pissing off your local Hutt could make things interesting.

Caben's niece Nylaa has a Rishi hideout as well, a few of us are helping a new guild member play through the Shadow of Revan era and doing some time-jumped stuff, might be nice to have some other places to RP as we catch them up.  She also has some long-term smuggling and logistics connections there into the present.

I actually turned the back end of my Rishi into the post-apocalyptic remnant of Zythia, decided Daimren and the Wraiths have established some relief efforts and a few low-key Safehouses there.  We have a nice Shantytown and mini-casino built into the ruins.

Caben has also been relegitimazing Wysan Unlimited Shipbuilding's status within the Republic now that we've cleared some of our names in the Wraiths... possibly a wedding on the horizon for him too with his old smuggling parter, Nyss who kept his business going after his presumed "death." They've been trying to snatch up some of the contracts on Corellia and other Core Worlds in the wake of the new conflict, unsure of the nature of Darykon's more legitimate business dealings, but another possible way we might cross paths, for good or ill.

Any and all of those things. Inspiration can come from the strangest places.

Wraiths are still pretty active in Hutt Space, and we are still slowwalking a few Hutt/Mando/Dar'Manda rivalries coming out of the fall of the Eternal Empire, if any of that would be useful. ... Could be fun to figure out a few of my Hutt NPC's in coordination with your crime empire.  We've also been establishing some of our own Freeports similar to Mek'sha in the Mid-Rim, which may attract the attention of some Hutts and other nonaligned factions.

That could work. Technically I have no lore whatsoever for the Mandos hidden in the Dump so there is a lot of room for development. Mandalorian stuff is well outside of my element, but I was going to use those decos doggone it! :P

Our Dar'Manda antagonists have been running a slaving ring and looking for vulnerable Zakuulan and other refugee groups... could be possible the Wraiths track a raid to the Dump too, although pissing off your local Hutt could make things interesting.

The wraiths could indeed track back people being funneled through that camp. Now Sebboja is not a high ranking Hutt. He's a middle management looking to climb. They could easily tangle with him without having an impossible foe to face.

However, that also raises the issue that I have almost no lore for Sebboja either. I need to flesh his character out, but that's going to take even more creative juice and my brain is squeezed a little dry already. Spiteful is a trait not a character.

That sounds cool. If there were more hooks, that area could be all sorts of stuff. While I have not formed any lore around what planet the resort and refugee camp are on, it's not Rishi specifically but it could still be used for Rishi RPs. One of the reasons I wanted an interconnected backstory for several strongholds is so there would be many hooks for different kinds of players. That way, you could feasibly have very different RPs going on but everyone is still connected to the same story and can hop around and mingle between plots if they like.

One thing I am vaguely curious about with my stronghold is whether to not it is possible to actually hit another player in my PVP arena because that is where I put the "rough" market which is full of decos. I originally set it up so that there could be plenty of cover in the case a shootout occurred.

Going off this, I think I will make Darykon's legitimate business middleman logistics. He doesn't get things from point A to B himself but he puts people in contact with people makes fees simplifying the process for others. This will make it easier for him to be a mover of things that are less legitimate as well.

So far, it looks like I need to come up with defining characteristics for:
  • Sebboja
  • Darykon
  • The Mandos that operate out of the Dump

This might lead to more lore to accommodate both their traits and where they operate. Also, I now have a job for Darykon so that is a start for his character.

So I have had no revelations on the three character topics from the last post but I did have one solid breakthrough on a character defining saying for the Chief mechanic of Gen Terras, Yahsy. Hopefully you'll get a laugh out of it too.

__________________________________

One of Yahsy's Sayings:

"It's prettier than a Hutt's backside..."

Meaning: The topic of discussion or thing manages to clear a pretty low bar.

Given to colorful and imaginative expressions, even if the word picture involves the wrong side of a Hutt, Yahsy has a saying or comment for everything. When asked for qualitative opinions, he typically uses the above expression to mean something is at least passable and give his own explanation as follows:

"It's a low bar just about anything can pass without the assistance of alcohol."

He has given no comment as to where or how he obtained his expert knowledge of the backsides of Hutts.

__________________________

And another!

"Slicker than senators' snot."

Meaning: I'll work smoothly.

Given that he is responsible for the operation of various machines and droids, Yahsy spends a lot of time up to his elbows in grease and lubricants of various kinds. When asked about smooth functioning, both literal and metaphorical, he will often respond with the above. If asked about the expression he will explain.

"Slipperiest substance in the galaxy. How else do you think they ease all that poodoo out without hurting themselves?"

If allowed to go on further he'll add.

"I'd by a whole warehouse of that stuff if I could... only thing I would buy from them. Ha! Bet you could fit a star destroyer through a needle's eye with enough of it.
