Shadow of Shadren - Planning Thread

This is the OOC thread for the plot me and @Dassalya are running concerning the Shadren Hegemony and political stirrings on Iridonia begun way back during the great plot @Kremon ran for the server. This plot is not a sequel, but continues off of some independent threads started during that time period and since. We saw an opportunity to do a cool plot involving politics and intrigue for both factions that might pull in characters from Jedi to Sith to troopers to spies to politicians and everything in between.

The story so far...

King Ayrak of Iridonia--the head of Iridonia's High Council--approached the Jedi Order recently in search of aid, revealing that he was holding as his prisoner none other than Queen Vedriat Azeara of the Shadren Hegemony, a member of the Sith Empire. While held under accusation of entering the planet under a false identity and joining violence as a Sith combatant on a Republic world, the Queen of Shadren claims to have been hunting down a traitor, and Ayrak himself believes her to have been spying for a Sith offensive. To ascertain the truth of the matter and find a way out of the sticky political situation, a Jedi delegation was formed and sent to Iridonia to interview the captive queen. At the moment, these events are known only to the Office of the Chancellor, the Jedi Order, and certain members of the Zabrak Army. However, Vedriat is not without her allies, nor Shadren without resources of its own... Vedriat's handmaiden, Tymeis, has begun to make inquiries of her own, and reach out to her allies within Shadren and the Sith Empire.

Check out our summary thread summarizing all of the IC hooks and the plot entries so far! Then come back here to join in the planning, volunteering, and otherwise keeping track of the plot. If this interests you -- Republic or Imperial -- comment in this OOC thread to voice your interest and get involved in the planning and RP events of this series.

There are several plot cruxes where players can decide what happens in this plot. That means the people who get involved will be able to have an impact in where the story goes, if conflicts break out, what the conflicts are over, etc. There are hooks in place for many different kinds of characters, so if it interests you let us know and post with what characters might get involved!

This isn't an RP Event yet - just an interest in who might want to be a part of whatever event(S) are coming.

As this sounds like more of a long-burn plotline with several event possibilities as it plays out - and not a single one-shot event.

But of course I'm sure Noth and Dassa will correct that :).

Oh - and heck yea of course I'm interested in playing in y'alls plot!  So +1 Sith here :).

And if you need Sith for any particular stance or foil or roll to counter other players let me know and Karmic might can do that for you too :)

Nope! Karmic has the right of it. This is intended to be more of a multi-shot arc that we're hoping will spawn additional RP opportunities outside of the main thread. We fully intend for this story to be malleable, so please get involved if you'd like to shape the fate of Shadren and its relationship with the Empire and the Republic, or just plain have a reason (and opportunity) to take potshots at the enemy.

Because of its open-endedness, it's a little difficult for us to plan events far in advance, so gauging interest and what kind of characters might take up the cause is helpful to us in deciding what kind of event(s) should take place (e.g. if we have a lot of warrior types, we'll probably see some fighting action, but if we get more subterfuge-y types, expect to see politics and espionage going down. And if both, well... a mix!). So, as Karmic said, if you're interested, shout out!

It'll be separated like it is on the first post, there, with titles to show off what information is accessible to which groups of people, to be used at your IC leisure. (Think the boxes on the holo-database wikia we have that provide IC information known to limited factions, that anyone in that faction might know.)

So for example, I know @Karmic @Erednash and @Mourne you all are either primarily Impside players or volunteering your Sith/Imps, so it might behoove us now to do some stuff Impside for the plot!

Hey they said ALL SIDES!  Not sure why it wouldn't be a good fit here.

I know what side Karmic falls on with SOME of the Hegemony stuff but re: my question in other thread before I could identify who/how Karmic wants to help vs. condem... :)

For all I know she may very much agree with you Malagant - given certain facts in this storyline and you wouldn't necessarily be alone in wanting "off with her head" and "bring our people back" LOL

So I wouldn't throw your involvement out yet; even if you are the "stand alone" doesnt' mean it wouldn't be a good fit! :)

There is absolutely a place for Malagant in this, @Joshmaul! Shadren's moment of instability sounds like a perfect opportunity to lay claim/siege/political pressure to it. And who knows? Maybe a head on a pike is in the cards, if you play it right...

This! It's pretty much how I see the Elariels getting involved. Just kinda stragglers who get randomly pulled into things despite their best intentions. @Joshmaul, you and I can be the crazies who fill in the gaps :)

I don't want to get ahead of myself here, Noth, but I am interested in participating. However, given that it's been somewhere in the neighborhood between 6-7 years since I've actually RPed, I thought this might be a good opportunity to get my feet wet again by doing something small and relatively minor to support the events. What I was considering was playing a supporting role for your other Imperial players, such as an Imperial officer (my Agent) or trooper (my BH), since most "official" Imperial envoys often involve some sort of entourage. I figured that a few quiet emotes when appropriate wouldn't be difficult for me to manage and not screw up, and it would give me the chance to observe the RP. Both of those characters have the appropriate armor/costume for those roles.

(As for Mourne, I don't know if I'll ever RP with him, tbh. He's a little intense, and like Malagant, he prefers to negotiate with his lightsabers. This story sounds like it's going to require a great deal more subtlety.)

I'll defer to the story crafters here on what you're looking for and what will fit into the story events, but please count me as a volunteer to play a minor supporting role for the Imps.

@Mourne - This should be a great plot to get your feet wet again, then! Don't worry about limiting your character choices to just political or entourage types. If the Sith want to try to storm the castle... well, we will do a plot about storming the castle. If they want to be subtle, we'll run a subtlety-oriented plot. As we said before, it's very player-driven!

But it is looking like an Impside version of the call for aid is in order. Me and Dass will brainstorm!

I too would like to be involved with in this as this could be a good way to get Big Rix reactivated again. Still have a few things to work out with her and the old Valefor ties.

I too would also like to see Queen Vedriat's pillows replaced with fish. After all, how else do we keep those Sith humble?
